Los Angeles Lakers star Anthony Davis is out for at least two more weeks as he recovers from his calf injury.

According to Dave McMenamin of ESPN, Davis will be re-evaluated in half a month after he was seen and evaluated by team doctors on Friday  night. It was also noted that the Lakers big  man will be entering the “next phase of his return to play process,” although no specifics details of the said next step were given.

Anthony Davis has been out for the Lakers since February 16 after suffering what the team initially described as an Achilles strain. It was later revealed to be a calf issue, and the team announced he'd be out for at least two to three weeks.

Three weeks later, however, it appears that Davis injury is not yet fully healed. While it has been noted that it was a significant injury top begin with, the extension of his recovery period suggests that AD hasn't make huge strides in getting back to the basketball court.

Before going down with the injury, Davis has been averaging 22.5 points, 8.4 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 1.8 blocks per game. He has suited up in 23 outings for the Lakers, who has since fallen to third in the Western Conference after his injury.

Including Friday's game against the Indiana Pacers, Davis has already missed 10 straight games for the Lakers.

For what it's worth though, it is best for the Lakers to exercise caution on AD since they need him more come playoff time. They are the defending champions, and they desperately need the 28-year-old big man to be healthy and injury free throughout the postseason.
