Is there really no place like home? Perhaps, because after seemingly doing everything in his power to facilitate a trade from the New Orleans Pelicans to the Los Angles Lakers, Anthony Davis wouldn't rule out a move back to his hometown Chicago Bulls this coming offseason.

When asked about possibly playing for the Bulls, Davis told an audience of Chicagoans, “I mean, I am a free agent next year… but we'll see.”

Would Davis consider a homecoming, like when his teammate, LeBron James, went back to Cleveland after leaving for Miami? Lakers fans would hope not. Less than five months ago, LA traded Lonzo Ball, Brandon Ingram, Josh Hart and three first-round picks to New Orleans for Davis.

The tandem of Davis and James has been everything that the Lakers could hope for early this season. The team is in first place in the Western Conference with a league-leading defensive rating of 96.3. Davis is playing like an MVP candidate, averaging 28.5 points, 11.5 rebounds, 2.7 assists, 1.0 steal and 3.o blocks per game.

Should Davis decide to leave the City of Angels for the Windy City in the offseason, he'd be joining a team including Zach LaVine and Otto Porter, as well as Lauri Markkanen, Wendell Carter Jr., and Coby White — all high picks in recent drafts.

Despite this statement, it may be difficult to believe that Davis would leave Los Angles after just one season. Part of the reason New Orleans was able to get three first-round picks for Davis was that he had made it known that Los Angles was his preferred destination. Couple that with their early season success, and most Lakers fans may be able to write this off as Davis just refusing to forfeit any leverage in future negotiations.
