The Los Angeles Lakers were dealt a huge blow after superstar Anthony Davis took quite a spill on Tuesday against the New York Knicks at Staples Center.

The scary incident took place late in the third quarter, when the six-time All-Star landed hard on his back and grimaced in pain late in the third quarter.

Per Dave McMenamin of ESPN, Davis was diagnosed with a sacral contusion above his tailbone and was immediately ruled out for the remainder of the match.

Although X-rays did came out negative, Davis' status remains a cause for concern for LA. After all, the seven-foot superstar has a lot of history with injuries throughout his first seven seasons in the league.

Davis has displayed durability in his first stint in Los Angeles so far, suiting up in 34 of the team's first 37 games. He is currently the frontrunner for the Defensive Player of the Year award, notching averages of 27.7 points, 9.5 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 2.6 blocks per game (second in the league).

Even without The Brow's services in the end game, the Lakers cruised to their sixth consecutive win of the season with an easy 117-87 triumph over the Knicks.

AD had five points, six rebounds and five assists at the time of the injury. He was expected to be taken out of the ball game in the ensuing minutes given the Lakers' big advantage at the time.

With the Purple and Gold expected to go deep in this year's playoffs, the team will most likely take an extreme caution with Anthony Davis' situation. The team will take on the Dallas Mavericks, Oklahoma City Thunder and Cleveland Cavaliers in their next three games.
