Anthony Davis and LeBron James have established quite a bit of chemistry while leading the Los Angeles Lakers to the NBA Finals.

But before Davis became James' right-hand man, he was just another kid from Chicago hoping to meet the next big thing.

Anthony Davis sat down for an interview with ESPN's Rachel Nichols prior to the start of the NBA Finals on Wednesday. He explained how his relationship with James dates back quite a few years, detailing the time he hopped on a Greyhound bus from Chicago to Ohio to attend James' basketball camp when he was 15 years old (story starting a little after 2-minute mark):

Interestingly enough, this was about the time Anthony Davis was about to experience a growth spurt that would make him one of the top high school prospects in the country.

Davis grew nearly a foot in high school, eventually earning a scholarship to Kentucky. The Chicago native would go on to lead the Wildcats to the NCAA title in his freshman season, and he was subsequently drafted with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2012 NBA Draft.

All Davis has done since then is become one of the best big men of this generation. The 27-year-old has consistently expanded his game as an athletic stretch big man capable of exploiting matchups in the post or breaking down opponents off the dribble. Davis is also one of the best defenders in the game.

The Brow has taken his game to new heights alongside James, one of the top IQ guys in the history of basketball. Twelve years after attending his idol's camp, Anthony Davis and LeBron James will hope to lead the Lakers to their first title since 2010.

The Lakers fill face the Miami Heat in Game 1 of the NBA Finals on Wednesday night.
