Los Angeles Lakers superstar Anthony Davis will go through an MRI but is expected to be out against the Dallas Mavericks and the Oklahoma City Thunder in their upcoming games.

Per Dave McMenamin of ESPN, Davis is set for MRI this Tuesday night, right after the game against the New York Knicks.

Davis suffered a hard fall late in the third quarter against the Knicks as he went up to contest a Julius Randle layup. Davis' body tilted in an awkward way while jumping and fell on his rear back/tailbone area.

The Lakers big man tried to catch his fall but was too late. A collective sigh of worry reverberated all over Staples Center. Thankfully, Davis was able to walk in his own power amid a noticeable limp.

Davis left the game and did not return. In 28 minutes of action, he chipped in five points, six rebounds and five assists for the Lakers.

After their dominant 117-87 victory over the Knicks, the Lakers are off to a two-game road trip starting off with Luka Donic and the Mavs on Friday, followed by Chris Paul and the Thunder on Saturday.

Davis is the Lakers' scoring (27.7) and rebounding (9.5) leader. He's also the favorite recipient of LeBron James, the league leader in assists with 11.0 dimes per game.

Without Anthony Davis, expect head coach Frank Vogel to field Dwight Howard in the starting five. Moreover, Kyle Kuzma is expected to get a bump in minutes in the absence of Davis.
