The Los Angeles Lakers were dealt a blow on Sunday after Avery Bradley left their game against the Detroit Pistons due to an ankle injury.

Bradley was forced to head back to the locker room with an apparent ankle injury he suffered during a fast break in the second quarter. According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, x-rays came back negative for him.

Moreover, ESPN's Dave McMenamin confirmed that he will be out for the rest of the game. He finished the contest after playing just 12 minutes and scoring five points and dishing out one assist.

The loss of Avery Bradley undoubtedly deals a crushing blow to a Lakers backcourt that has largely struggled to produce on a consistent basis thus far in the 2019-20 NBA season. Fortunately, they can take solace in the fact that the injury is not deemed to be too severe, which hopefully means Bradley will not have to miss much time.

Bradley was sidelined for 13 games earlier in the season while recovering from a hairline fracture. He has since managed to etch out a more prominent role within the Lakers' lineup while continuing to find his rhythm on both sides of the floor. His skill set as an elite perimeter defender has largely overshadowed his contributions on the offensive end as of late.

Although the Lakers were happy to reward Bradley with an increase in playing time over the past two games, it is safe to say that they may opt to take a cautious approach in order to ensure he is 100 percent before making his return.
