Matthew Knowles, father of R&B queen Beyoncé Knowles, recently threw it way back by posting an old video clip of himself playing one-on-one with Los Angeles Lakers great Kobe Bryant.

The video was taken from the set of Beyoncé's now-defunct all-female R&B group from the late 90's/early 2000's, Destiny's Child, music video “Bug a Boo.” Bryant was a guest star in the video for the 1999 hit, and as it turns out, he had some time on the set to shoot some hoops in between takes.

To be fair to Mr. Knowles, it looks like he isn't bad with a basketball. As a matter of fact, he was even to put one in the hole against one of the greatest players of all time. Not many non-professional basketball players can put this on their resume, and Knowles made sure that the world is reminded of his noteworthy accomplishment.

Bryant, however, did not appear to have his Mamba Mentality on the particular defensive play that was caught on film. He obviously gave Knowles a clear path to the basket, and his late challenge was halfhearted at best. It seemed more like a promotional video than a legitimate one-on-one contest.

Knowing Kobe's competitive spirit though, it would not be surprising if he turned up the heat a bit after Knowles scored on him. It's just too bad we don't have a copy of the rest of the video and we will never see how this pick-up game ultimately turned out.
