Brandon Ingram is still working his way back from an injured ankle, but Ohm Youngmisuk of ESPN is reporting that Ingram has been assigned to the Lakers' G League team to continue his rehab and practice with the South Bay Lakers.

Ingram has missed the last six games after he sprained his ankle in the first quarter of a Dec. 5 game against the San Antonio Spurs. Ingram is averaging 15.2 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 2.2 assists per game this season.

Ingram, obviously, won't be available on Tuesday for the Lakers' matchup with the Brooklyn Nets, but it's clear that he's slowly making his way back into the lineup.

Los Angeles is playing with a battered lineup at the moment. Ingram is out with his ankle issues, Rajon Rondo is still working his way back from hand surgery, JaVale McGee is day-to-day with an illness, and Michael Beasley is out for personal reasons.

Despite their injury problems all season long, the Lakers have won seven of their last 10 and are in the thick of the Western Conference playoff picture. At 18-12, they are currently in fourth place in the West and only 2.5 games back from first place in the division.

Of course, when LeBron James is leading the charge night in and night out, the injury woes are less concerning. James can carry a team through tough stretches during the regular season, but the Lakers will still love to have Ingram back in the lineup sooner rather than later.
