In the first quarter of the matchup between the Los Angeles Lakers and San Antonio Spurs, small forward Brandon Ingram suffered an ankle injury after landing on the foot of LaMarcus Aldridge.

Looks like an ankle sprain for Brandon Ingram. He's up but clearly limping. He's getting ready to take free throws. #Lakers

The Spurs All-Star was slapped with a flagrant one as Brandon Ingram proceeded to exit the game and head to the locker room.

Prior to the injury, Ingram managed to score five points to go along with one block in a little over five minutes on the floor.
Ironically, Aldridge's foul, while unintentional, was eerily reminiscent of erstwhile Golden State Warriors center Zaza Pachulia's perceived cheap shot on then-Spurs star Kawhi Leonard. It took away the momentum from the Spurs and also Leonard for the entire Western Conference Finals series.
Just when people thought they've seen a crazily-tight race last year, the Western Conference standings look more competitive. The Lakers are right in the mix while the Spurs are on the outside looking in.
After initial tests, Brandon Ingram was diagnosed with a sprained left ankle.
Brandon Ingram is questionable to return. He's got a sprained left ankle. Negative x-rays. #Lakers

The Lakers will have to rely on the superhuman powers of LeBron James while Brandon Ingram is out. Entering the night, the former Duke Blue Devil was averaging 15.7 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 2.3 assists per game.
