Los Angeles Lakers third-year small forward Brandon Ingram says he might be too overconfident sometimes on the basketball court.

Brandon Ingram believes he may be forcing some unnecessary tough shots in this young season instead of letting the game come to him naturally.

“I think sometimes I may be too confident,” Ingram said, via Anthony Irwin of Silver Screen and Roll. “When I’m just playing the game of basketball is when I’m at my best. Not forcing shots, taking whatever comes to me, getting in the lane and just making plays for other people.”

Through 19 games this season, Ingram is averaging 15.7 points, 4.2 rebounds and 2.3 assists. The 21-year-old is shooting 46.6 percent from the field, 32.4 percent from beyond the arc and 63.6 percent from the free-throw line.

Ingram's shooting numbers are down from last year, though he has a higher usage rate this season as the Lakers are playing him as a point-forward. The former No. 2 overall pick is at his best when he's driving to the rim and using his length to finish in traffic and cause havoc in the paint. Ingram is a good mid-range shooter but not that reliable from the 3-point line.

Forcing shots is never a good recipe for success. Although Ingram can get his shot over anyone due to his length, getting the best shot possible should be his focus moving forward.
