While capable of being a fiery character from time to time, Los Angeles Lakers head coach Luke Walton generally has a more laid-back and easy-going approach to coaching. However, he does have someone on his coaching staff in Brian Shaw who will bring the fire on a consistent basis.

And as Shaw tells Kevin Ding of NBA.com, it’s gotten to the point where Lakers players want to beat Shaw up because of his intense coaching style.

“I coach the same way right now,” Shaw said. “There are guys on this team right now who want to beat me up, every day, because I talk so much s—. That’s the way that I know. I refuse to relent.”

Shaw’s abrasive coaching style famously didn’t fly during his first — and, so far, only — head coaching gig with the Denver Nuggets. He was a highly unpopular figure in the locker room and didn’t last two seasons before he was canned.

That experience in Denver has apparently not deterred Shaw from adapting and changing his coaching style. His unwillingness to change could potentially cost him another shot at a head coaching job. But at least he's still employed suitable role an associate head coach who will push Lakers players to their absolute limits.
