With the Los Angeles Lakers' 115-100 victory over the L.A. Clippers on Wednesday night, both teams' seasons came to a close. Many questions remain about what the Lakers are going to do this offseason, one which involves the future of veteran center Brook Lopez with the team going forward.

Following the win, Lopez opened up to Ryan Ward of ClutchPoints about his upcoming unrestricted free agency and whether he'll be back with the Lakers for the beginning of the 2018-19 season.

“We will see how it goes,” Lopez said. “I am just going to try to put myself in the best position possible as a player and do what I can to control what I can and control the variables.”

After being acquired from the Nets as part of the trade package for point guard D'Angelo Russell, Lopez will have his three-year, $63.5 million contract he signed with Brooklyn expire this offseason.

Lopez, who turned 30 earlier this month, capped off the regular season finale against the Clippers with 14 points on 3-of-5 shooting from behind the arc, two rebounds, a blocked shot and an assist in just 17 minutes on the court.

“We're on the right path for where we want to get to,” Lakers head coach Luke Walton said after the game, per Beth Harris of The Associated Press. “Really happy with the progress we made. It was a special, fun year.”

In 74 games played in his first season with the Lakers, Lopez averaged pretty solid numbers with 13.0 points on 46.5 percent shooting from the field, 4.0 rebounds, 1.7 assists, and 1.3 blocked shots per game in roughly 23.4 minutes per contest.
