LaVar Ball caused quite a stir again recently, when he made strong comments against Luke Walton about not knowing how to coach his son, Lonzo. He then said that he’s the one who does, and can bring more victories to the Los Angeles Lakers. While that surely did not sit well with a lot of the team’s fans, that was also the case with the team’s former head coach, Byron Scott, who had a strong message of his own for him.

The three-time NBA champion was asked how he would handle the situation if he was in Walton’s shoes, and he made it known that he will not hold back in telling him that he needs to shut up because he does not have the experience and knowledge in coaching, unlike the Lakers’ current coach. He also added, via TMZ Sports, that he thinks his latest antics are just laughable.

“Shut up. Stay put. Stay on the sidelines. We got this.”

Ball has never been shy in speaking his mind, and it could be that he is also getting frustrated with the shooting performance of his son, which has not helped the team’s cause at all. The Lakers only have an 8-11 record so far, including losses in six of their last nine games. Lonzo Ball is only making 31.5 percent of his shots from the field, and has already been benched in a couple of games due to his inefficiency on the court.

Walton has since responded by saying he is not paying attention to the older Ball's statement. He may have chosen to deal with it that way, as it could only cause an unwanted distraction in their locker room, especially as it concerns the father of one of his players. It’s expected that he’s more focused on how to lead his team to more success, as they badly need to find a way to start turning their fortunes around, and not dig themselves a hole too deep for to climb out of.
