Carmelo Anthony just dropped a truth bomb, comparing Russell Westbrook's stint with the Oklahoma City Thunder to his newfound role with the Los Angeles Lakers.

Not long ago, the pair joined sides to form the “OK3” trio with Paul George in Oklahoma City. However, despite the high expectations given to the three All-Stars, their time together was short-lived.

The Thunder lost to a young Utah Jazz squad led by then-rookie Donovan Mitchell in the first round of the 2018 NBA Playoffs. Many fans considered that season as a disappointment for the Thunder, given the amount of talent that they had.

Today, Westbrook and Anthony cross paths again as teammates — both trying to win their first ring. This time around, the expectations are high as the pair will join forces with LeBron James and Anthony Davis.

Anthony explains Westbrook's role as the star of the show in OKC, compared to him sharing the spotlight in LA.

Via Talk Basket:

“It’s different,” Melo said. “In OKC it was his show. He was the anchor [of] that. I think we did a great job of putting this group together so that everybody can kind of be their own anchor within what we’re trying to accomplish.

“We all know Bron, we all know AD but everybody else we have to anchors too in order for this to work. So Russ have to be who Russ is. Him coming here, him coming home and that’s always a different feeling. Maybe trying to figure it out. I don’t know.”

“But I know being home is a special feeling. I had the opportunity to play in New York and being back in front of family and friends and every night being home it’s a big difference. I think you guys will see that with Russ once he get[s] going.”

Fans should feel optimistic that the Lakers seem to have a great bond, but it remains to be seen whether or not this translates to success.
