The NBA and basketball world as a whole lost a legend over the weekend. With longtime Los Angeles Lakers shooting guard and NBA legend Kobe Bryant passing away over the weekend, current Portland Trail Blazers forward Carmelo Anthony has become just the latest sports figure to pay tribute to the legendary sharpshooter.

Although Bryant and Anthony never played on the same NBA team, these two legends of the game had notably crossed paths many times over the years.

“I hate when I have so much to say, but I can’t put any of it into words,” Anthony wrote on Instagram. “The times I have the most to say are the times that I can’t talk. I’m screaming inside but I can’t be heard. YOU don’t know how hard it is to try to pretend to smile when I have these clouds of emotions.”

The NBA staple in Bryant notably spent his entire 20-year playing career as a member of the heralded Lakers with Anthony spending lengthy stints with both the Denver Nuggets and New York Knicks.

With Bryant and Anthony going at it for years in the Western Conference during the latter's time in Denver, the former also made his presence known at the famed Madison Square Garden during Anthony's time in the “Big Apple.” Both Bryant and Anthony became mainstays of Team USA basketball over the years as well.

Bryant was tragically killed as the result of an unfortunate and untimely helicopter accident on Sunday morning in Southern California.
