Los Angeles Lakers star Anthony Davis is one of the most dominant two-way players in the league when he's healthy. But that last bit has been the biggest caveat throughout his career.

With the fact that Anthony Davis is injury-prone being hard to deny, some naysayers have labeled AD as soft because of his inability to stay on the floor. Lakers teammate Carmelo Anthony claims that couldn't be further from the truth.

Melo was asked about the “soft” narrative after the Lakers' win over the Hornets, a contest where Davis reportedly vomited during the middle of the game but continued to play on.

“I don't who questions that,” said the Lakers veteran. Maybe you guys write that and question that but I’m around him. I know what type of player he is. I know what type of person he is. It’s a lot on him. He is one of the leaders of this team. … I didn’t know he threw up. But for him to do that and still come back and help us win this game and get this victory that just says a lot about him.”

Anthony Davis has been vocal on his own frustrations regarding his injuries. Lakers coach Frank Vogel recently shared that AD is adamant to play, even when he's at 50/50, which is probably in part to erase the narrative against his own toughness. But he clearly doesn't have anything to prove to Carmelo Anthony any longer.

“I think a lot of times we find a narrative and try to stick to it when it comes to athletes. I know he’s not soft. I know he’s tough. I know if he’s out there and he can play, he’s going to play and that’s the only thing that matters.”

Anthony Davis and the Lakers continue to battle through injuries this early into the season. Hopefully the team can stay healthy so that they can showcase what they're truly capable of.
