Carmelo Anthony has arguably the best chance of his career at winning the title with the Los Angeles Lakers. Melo sounded off on how badly he wants a crack at the NBA championship as he spoke to reporters in a recent press conference.

Via ClutchPoints' Lakers beat reporter Michael Corvo:

“Every year we all come into the season saying, ‘OK, we want to win a championship,'” Anthony said in his introductory press conference with the Lakers. “How hard it is to get there and to achieve that? That’s on a whole ‘nother level. That’s extremely hard, to accomplish that. I’m coming in with a championship on my mind. I think we all know that this is the one thing that I’m missing. This is the one thing that keeps me up at night. It motivates me because I don’t have it. I want that experience.

The Lakers star's comments spread across social media and eventually caught the attention of his former coach, George Karl. The ex-Denver Nuggets coach didn't mince words in claiming Melo gave his coaching staff fits as well back in the day.

George Karl wants that smoke, man. Carmelo Anthony famously had his best playoff run in 2009 with Karl as his coach on the Nuggets. His epic duel against Kobe Bryant's Lakers still stands as his best playoff moment.

Who would have thought he'd have his best chance at another one wearing Purple & Gold? We'll just have to wait and see if Carmelo Anthony responds now, or if he'll wait until after confetti actually falls from the rafters.
