Channing Frye doesn't hold the answer to everything. He's not going to lead the Cleveland Cavaliers to another championship. But his lone title with the Cavs alongside LeBron James, who's now with the Los Angeles Lakers, has brought him valuable insight on what it takes to win it all.

On his Road Trippin' podcast, Frye talked about James and the Lakers — his team during the latter part of last season. The veteran big man notes that beneath all the roster moves made by Los Angeles, one important piece is still missing.

“They’re young guys are crazy talented. The only worry I have is, they don’t have a guy that’s not expected to play that is going to do the work. You need that one 15th man. You need a guy that is on par with your A1, that is working harder than him to do nothing. But that is respected and can hold people accountable.”

Frye makes a valid point. Let's not move far and just stay with James as an example. The person who's occupied the role mentioned by Frye, through LeBron's championships, has been James Jones.

For some, the deadeye shooter is merely a meme material whenever James reaches the NBA Finals. For others, he's the one guy who never cared about his minutes but was ready whenever his name got called. If he's not on the court draining triples off James' kick outs, Jones is weathering any turbulence inside the locker room or on the bench.

He's that one player whom everybody on the team respect. In fact, his no-nonsense attitude has earned him a front office position with the Phoenix Suns.

Who will be that guy for the Lakers? Luol Deng could be a candidate. Although it's interesting to think that Frye didn't mention him despite being around Deng for a couple of months in Los Angeles. It could simply be an honest and unintentional omission — who knows.
