Chris Bosh is widely considered as one of the greatest players in Miami Heat franchise history. Unfortunately, the 11-time All-Star's career came to a surprisingly abrupt end in 2016 after he was diagnosed with a rare blood disease. In a recent interview, Bosh admitted that this was one of the toughest tests he's ever had to go through in his life, and that apparently, the untimely passing of Los Angeles Lakers legend Kobe Bryant had a lot to do with his transition.

According to Bosh, Kobe's death served as a bit of a wake-up call for him in terms of realizing what matters most in his life:

“To tell you the truth, after Kobe (Bryant) passed it put that much more perspective on what’s important and so I take the extra time with the family, with the kids, talking to kids, encouraging people, just trying to be positive and make each day a masterpiece,” Bosh shared, via Mike Johnston of SportsNet. “You do that just by staying in the present and enjoying the day as it is or trying your best to or working hard.”

Chris Bosh was robbed several years of his prime when he was forced to retire due to concerning health issues. He admitted that it was a real struggle in terms of accepting the way his decorated career had to end:

“It was extremely tough,” Bosh explained. “Basketball was everything for me. … Going through those things and having those experiences was great and then when you lose that it’s tough. One thing I tell athletes and those who have to reinvent themselves, it’s not easy and it’s OK to not know what you’re going to do.”

At that point in time, Chis Bosh was clearly at an impasse. From his childhood, Bosh's life revolved around basketball. For this to be taken away from him so suddenly was an extremely tough pill to swallow. However, he was able to find a silver lining to the tragic passing of Kobe Bryant as it allowed him to refocus his priorities in life.
