The Los Angeles Lakers are trying to acquire superstar center Anthony Davis again from the New Orleans Pelicans despite failing to secure a deal before the deadline in February.

The Lakers are currently in talks with the Pelicans about a potential deal for Davis in the coming days. And if they eventually acquire the 26-year-old superstar, Chris Broussard of Fox Sports believe that it will change the fortunes of the franchise dramatically.

Broussard said that the Lakers would be a “force” in the 2019-20 NBA season if they succeed in their pursuit of Davis. The veteran NBA analyst said that he believes that the team will eventually be a championship contender with a great chance to win the title. He added that the Lakers will be the third-best team behind Golden State and Toronto.

Davis is one the best players in the league at this point, and has a lot of years ahead of him. In 56 games with the Pelicans last season, the former Kentucky standout averaged 25.9 points on top of career-highs 12.0 points and 3.9 assists per game for New Orleans.

Acquiring him would be easier said than done for the Lakers. According to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, the Lakers made Lonzo Ball and Brandon Ingram available along with the fourth pick in the draft.

The Lakers are looking to trade the pick for a high-level player who they can offer to the Pelicans.
