A big-time L.A. Clippers fan has switched sides to the Los Angeles Lakers after a call from LeBron James himself.

Twitter user Clipper Darrell — Clippers fan and radio host of The Fan Truth let his fans know that he's now a Lakers supporter, after claiming that James — a newly-minted Laker — called him:

It's pretty understandable that devoted Clippers fans would don the purple and gold once in a while in the upcoming season. The Lakers have added the greatest player in this generation, along with the most promising young core in the league right now.

The Clippers, on the other hand, don't have much to offer this season. Just a few years ago, they had a Big 3 in Chris Paul, Blake Griffin, and DeAndre Jordan. Now, they don't have all of them. So far, the only deal they have sealed this summer is trading Austin Rivers for Marcin Gortat.

But Clippers fans need not fret. In 2019, they will have some financial flexibility as their projected cap space will be around $70 million. As per Broderick Turner of the Los Angeles Times, this would allow them to offer maximum salaries to two top-tier free agents.

The report added that several players' contracts are set to expire this season, freeing up some cap room next summer:

The contracts of Patrick Beverley, Tobias Harris, Wesley Johnson, Boban Marjanovic and Marcin Gortat, whom the Clippers acquired from the Washington Wizards last week by trading Austin Rivers, expire after this season, which would free up nearly $55 million.
