After being humiliated by the Toronto Raptors in Staples Center on Sunday, the Los Angeles Lakers are now 4-6 to open the new campaign. It has not been the start to the season many had hoped for for the new-look Lakers, and at this point, finger-pointing has become inevitable.

For sports analyst Colin Cowherd, the blame is on Lakers youngster Brandon Ingram, who he believes may be dealt away by the team upon the request of LeBron James.

Speaking on The Herd, the renowned sportscaster explained his theory on how James might be able to influence the Lakers front office to trade Ingram if the 21-year-old is unable to live up to expectations.

“And my takeaway is: 15 more Brandon Ingram disappearing acts and I think LeBron goes to the Lakers and says, ‘He isn’t the guy!’

“One thing LeBron likes is a little dog. LeBron can live with your flaws but if you don’t have a little dog in you, LeBron’s out.”

Well, that may be a bit premature from Cowherd at this point. The revamped Lakers squad have played in only 10 games this season — four of which were without Ingram as he served his suspension following his involvement in the melee that went down against the Houston Rockets — so it's a bit too early to make such brash claims.

James knew what he signed up for when he decided to take his talents to L.A., so he surely understands that there will be a lot of growing pains along the way. He has, on several occasions, reiterated that success won't be happening overnight, so at this point, it would be improbable to think that LeBron has already given up on Ingram, and the rest of the Lakers, for that matter.
