The news of Terry Stotts' firing as the Portland Trail Blazers just broke, but Damian Lillard has already named his preferred replacement – Los Angeles Lakers assistant Jason Kidd.

The Blazers star didn't mince words as he personally admitted that the Lakers coach was his guy. This comes via report from Yahoo Sports' Chris Haynes.

“Jason Kidd is the guy I want,” Lillard told Yahoo Sports on Friday night.

The two have a great relationship that goes back years. Lillard genuinely respects Kidd’s basketball acumen and knowledge of the game and believes he can help take his game and the team to the next level, sources said.

One huge selling point here is Jason Kidd has Oakland roots, and of course, so does Damian Lillard . As a point guard hailing from the same area, there's a huge level of respect that the Blazers star has for the Hall-of-Fame point guard.

Given the strong message Dame has already sent on wanting to steal Kidd from the Lakers, the Blazers would be remiss for failing to bring him on as soon as possible.

Immediately after their untimely elimination against the Denver Nuggets, speculation started to swirl on Damian Lillard's future, particularly if a path to the Lakers exists. While Lillard leaving is still far from reality, Portland better make sure their star gets what he wants.
