Anthony Davis again gave Los Angeles Lakers fans a scare on Friday night. The big man landed awkwardly after going up for a rebound, clutching his ankle midway through the third quarter against the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Given AD's injury history, it's hard not to fear the worst when something like that happens, especially when it comes on a play without contact from another defender.

AD didn't even leave the game. In fact, he drained a midrange jumper less than 30 seconds of game time later.

Anthony Davis finished with a monstrous double-double of 38 points and 17 rebounds as he keyed the Lakers' second-half comeback in what was a critical game for the West playoff race.

D'Angelo Russell was vocal after the game about anyone looking to criticize his superstar teammate.

“Man, y'all can't say nothing about 3. For him to roll his ankle, do all that in one of the biggest games for us. That dude came out, showed toughness. … Those guys lead, we follow. Simple as that.”

D'Angelo Russell played a big part in Davis' big night. Russell tallied a game-high ten assists in the contest, half of which were on AD buckets.

The Lakers looked as locked in as they have been at any point this season. With both LeBron James and Anthony Davis staying healthy enough to play, LA has all but secured its spot in the West standings with just a handful of games left. They've won five of their last six games and have the Houston Rockets up next.

If LA continues to play at this level going forward, they could be a nightmare matchup for the higher seeds in the postseason.
