Paul George had some ghastly shooting nights in the playoffs in recent years and the trend hasn't changed much with the Los Angeles Clippers. It didn't take long for his self-given nickname, “Playoff P” to resurface in the way of social media criticism, something Los Angeles Lakers guard Danny Green can surely relate to after going through some struggles of his own.

George admitted his struggles were caused by “checking out” mentally, noting that the bubble atmosphere can dole out some damage to his mental health.

Much like George, the Lakers veteran could not buy a bucket in the first round of the playoffs, empathizing with what Clippers star had been through:

“I know exactly what Paul is going through,” the Lakers veteran told Mark Medina of USA TODAY Sports. “You have nothing to do but look at your phone and social media all day. All they are doing is bullying you. They are trying to get you to play well. So he was going through a rough stretch. I’m sure doors were closing in on him, and it was getting dark for him.”

George averaged 18.5 points per game in the first round and shot 34.6% from the floor and 27% from three, as the seventh-seeded Dallas Mavericks gave the Clippers all they could handle through six games. Besides a 35-point explosion in Game 5, George was rather quiet offensively, while also unable to make much happen at the other end of the floor.

Green has only scored in double digits in three out of his seven games this postseason and has only shot above 50% twice in these playoffs, despite being a starter and a key role player. The hope is that he too will bounce back and re-center before the Lakers get even deeper into the playoffs.
