After Avery Bradley officially opted out of the NBA bubble, the Los Angeles Lakers immediately searched for a viable replacement or at least another guard that could help this title-contending team off the bench in Orlando.

It didn't take long for the Lakers to find their man as they brought in veteran guard JR Smith for a workout and signed him not long after. Smith brings veteran experience, another threat beyond the arc, and established chemistry with superstar LeBron James.

With Smith seemingly the ideal fit for the Lakers, his new teammates have reacted to the signing of the one-time NBA champion, including Danny Green, who spoke to the L.A. media on a Zoom call on Tuesday. Green talked about Smith fitting in and what the elite shooter brings to the table for Los Angeles.

“He'll gel just fine,” Green said of Smith's transition. “Obviously, he's a specialist at what he does. He makes it easier for himself and easier and easier for us to play with him. He spaces the floor. An active big guard that can do different things, but mostly a floor spacer, and once he gets the system down, I think he'll thrive easily.”

Although Smith hasn't seen the floor since playing in only 11 games for the Cleveland Cavaliers during the 2018-19 NBA season, head coach Frank Vogel recently said that the veteran journeyman is in great shape and has clearly been staying ready for an opportunity like he has gotten from the Lakers.

This is the perfect scenario for the Lakers as the clock was ticking following Bradley's decision to bring in a viable option at the guard spot. Smith could be a steal for Los Angeles as they attempt to win a 17th title in the team's history during an unusual and unprecedented postseason campaign in Orlando.
