Los Angeles Lakers veterans Avery Bradley and Dwight Howard are not sold on the NBA plan to resume the 2019-20 season next month in Orlando, Florida. According to teammate Danny Green though, the two are very much needed for the success of the Purple and Gold franchise.

“I think it’s just important that we’re together. Obviously we’re going to need Avery Bradley, we’re going to need Dwight Howard to be playing for us to have a chance,” Danny Green told retired NBA swingman Caron Butler, via Silver Screen & Roll. “But I think it’s important that we stay healthy — and not just our team, but the league. Everybody that’s in the league has to have a unified front on what we’re going to do and speak with one voice.

“But for our team individually, as a group, Lakers, we need to be together, we need to be on the same page, we’ve got to stay healthy. I think we have some professional guys that are on top of it and actually staying in shape during this time, so I think we’ll be a little ahead of the curve with that.”

Bradley and Howard have been very helpful role players for the Lakers this season. Bradley has appeared in 49 contests for the team and has averaged 8.6 points per game, while Dwight played in 62 matches and put up 7.5 points and 7.4 rebounds. They both played a crucial part in helping the team secure the top seed in the Western Conference before the NBA hiatus.

While star forwards LeBron James and Anthony Davis headline the Lakers' group, no team is complete without solid, foundational players who know their role. Dwight Howard is expected to return to the team when the season restarts, but Avery Bradley could sit out due to social activism reasons.

According to Green, the Lakers will be better if Bradley plays, though.
