Los Angeles Lakers guard Danny Green isn't pulling any punches on crosstown rivals, Los Angeles Clippers.

While on the “Real Ones” podcast with Raja Bell and Logan Murdock (via Lakers Nation), Green had a very clear take on what he thought happened to the Clippers in the playoffs.

“I think the basketball Gods will humble you if you don’t play the game the right way or do the right thing,” the Lakers sharpshooter said of the Clippers. “I mean, a lot of people say speak things into existence, which is cool I like that, you shouldn’t be as cocky or because a lot of times it’s going to go the opposite way, you know. Someway somehow, you know, things ironically it’s gonna turn out the way opposite of you talking [expletive].”

Danny Green may be onto something. The Clippers were the most outspoken team in the NBA prior to the stoppage of play due to the coronavirus pandemic. All that talk didn't help them on the floor though, as they blew a 3-1 lead in the second round of the Western Conference playoffs against the Denver Nuggets–getting knocked out earlier than many believed they would be.

The cockiness of the Clippers didn't help them in terms of the reaction to their big blown lead, with many players and fans taking shots at the team for being all bark and no bite.

Green, who won the 2020 title with the Lakers, certainly thinks the remarks were justified. As the old saying goes, “If you can't handle the heat get out of the kitchen.”

Time will only tell if the Clippers will simmer down going into the 2020-21 season or if the trash talk will still be a big part of their culture, especially with a new head coach.

As for Green and the Lakers, they are certainly enjoying the title as they prove they are the kings of LA.
