David Beckham and Kobe Bryant: two of the biggest names in all of sport. This is exactly why Beckham's Valentine's gift to the daughters of the departed Los Angeles Lakers legend deserves a news article. We're pretty sure you're curious, too. Otherwise, you wouldn't have clicked on the link leading to this write-up.

Beckham, a legend in the world of football (or soccer), decided to send several bouquets of roses to Vanessa Bryant, Kobe's widow, and her three daughters in an endearing Valentine's Day gesture (h/t  Mona Thomas of E Online):

Beckham, who moved to the United States to play for the MLS' Los Angeles Galaxy for many years, built a personal relationship with Kobe during his time in L.A. David and his wife, former Spice Girls member Victoria Beckham, and their kids got to know the Bryant family through the years.

In a note included with the gift, Beckham shared just how much he looks up to Kobe in terms of setting a great example for his children:

David Beckham and Kobe Bryant are easily two of the most prominent figures not only in the world of sports but particularly, in the city of Los Angeles. Beckham himself had the privilege of witnessing Kobe's greatness during his playing days — something that the former Manchester United and Real Madrid midfielder cherishes to this very day.

Beckham's touching gesture here serves as a reminder of just how much Kobe touched the lives of so many around him. Rest in peace, Mamba.
