Veteran big man DeMarcus Cousins never once suited up for the Los Angeles Lakers, but Danny Green feels he still deserves a championship ring.

Green said Cousins is deserving because he was always with the team as he rehabbed from a torn ACL suffered last August. The Lakers wing also said former L.A. guard Troy Daniels should receive a ring for his contributions:

“DeMarcus was there rehabbing all year, the only time he wasn’t with us was in the bubble,” Green said, via Harrison Faigen of SB Nation. “Troy (Daniels) was with us most of the year, all year, then he also did well in Denver. The guys that have been with us on the roster and on the team, I think they all deserve an opportunity to get a ring because they were part of the team.”

The Lakers signed Cousins to a one-year deal in July of last year, only for the former All-Star to suffer a devastating knee injury just one month later.

There had been some optimism Cousins might be able to return later in the year. But the Lakers eventually had to waive Cousins to make room for Markieff Morris, whom they acquired in February.

It remains to be seen whether L.A. will attempt to re-sign Cousins this offseason. The team had expressed some interest in doing just that in February, though the Lakers might also have to pay a hefty sum to keep Rajon Rondo in free agency.

Regardless, Green feels the presence and selfless attitude Cousins displayed throughout the year merits him receiving a championship ring from the organization.
