Los Angeles Lakers center DeMarcus Cousins has suffered a possible knee injury and will undergo further testing today upon returning to Los Angeles, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski. Cousins was working out in Las Vegas on Monday when he had to leave the court after “bumping knees” with another player.

The 6-foot-11 center was coming off a torn Achilles injury which stemmed from the latter part of the 2017-18 campaign, returning in time to play 30 games with the Golden State Warriors last season. Boogie was also hurt two games into the postseason, partially tearing his quad, but returning in time to play in the NBA Finals.

If this proves to be a substantial injury, it could be the third major one in a span of one-and-a-half years, which should be reason for concern, even if he was inked to a one-year deal this summer.

Cousins was slated to be the starter in a lineup already boasting two supergiants in LeBron James and Anthony Davis, but if he can't be ready for training camp, a newly-re-signed JaVale McGee could take his place until he's fully recovered.

Once again, the recently-turned 29-year-old had to wait for calls in the offseason, as many have been concerned with the series of lower-body injuries that have slowed him down since having a career-year with the New Orleans Pelicans.

Cousins had the chance to re-ignite his former partnership with Anthony Davis in La La Land, but those hopes are compromised if he can't stay healthy enough to ratchet up his play to that level.
