The Los Angeles Lakers have been tied to virtually every veteran point guard that could potentially be on the move this offseason. With their supporting cast struggling to muster up any sort of playmaking ability to flank LeBron James during their postseason exit, it stands to reason that their backcourt needs a major upgrade.

Does that mean the starting point guard Dennis Schroder's time with the Lakers is over? According to NBA insider Marc Stein, that looks likely to be the case.

Seemingly daily discussion about the Lakers’ interest in various veteran guards not named Dennis Schröder increasingly suggest that Schröder’s future is elsewhere.

Chris Paul has been a constant name that could be headed back to LA just moments after the NBA Finals ended. Talks of a Kyle Lowry sign-and-trade have also been reignited after the Lakers' failed attempts to acquire the Raptors All-Star during the 2021 NBA trade deadline. Heck, even Russell Westbrook, who looks like an anchor on the Washington Wizards' payroll with two years and over $90 million left in his deal, has been rumored to be on the Purple & Gold's radar.

The clock is ticking on LeBron James' window to compete at the highest level. The same could be said of Dennis Schroder's time with the Lakers.
