Dion Waiters is still waiting to make his Los Angeles Lakers debut. The veteran guard signed with Los Angeles on March 6th, only for the league to suspend its regular season indefinitely due to coronavirus concerns on March 11th.

Speaking with Sports Illustrated from his home in Miami, where he's holed up with his family, Waiters shared how he's spending his time, trash-talking on Fortnite and Madden, and how he's staying in shape—and even slimming down—during the ongoing hiatus.

Dion Waiters, who only played three games in 2019-20, said that he looks forward to the league returning:

“Just trying to hoop. Just vibe out and hoop. I’ve had damn near the whole season off. I’m trying to get back and hoop. I got something to prove at the end of the day. During this quarantine I’ve been dieting, getting my weight down, getting in shape. For me, it’s just playing basketball.”

In the meantime, the Lakers guard is clearly appreciating the extended period with his family, especially his young kids, who are keeping his game fresh.

The Lakers hope Dion Waiters can provide a scoring and playmaking punch off the bench, if they're able to embark on a postseason run at some point. Los Angeles (49-14) held the top seed in the Western Conference prior to the season being suspended.
