New Los Angeles Lakers shooting guard Dion Waiters met with the L.A. media for the first time on Saturday after practice.

Waiters, who suffered a panic attack on the Miami Heat charter plane after consuming a THC-infused edible earlier in the season, says he's moving on from his past mistakes and looking forward to his new opportunity with the Lakers:

“At the end of the day, I'm grown,” Dion Waiters said, via Dave McMenamin of ESPN. “So, you learn from your mistakes … We don't got to keep drilling on the past, things like that. You live and you learn. And I did that. So, they understood that and that was a short conversation (with the Lakers' brass).

“You know me, I play basketball. I just try to take care of that part, make sure I'm ready coming into the workouts. Make sure I'm ready, sharp, things like that. Basketball for me, that's the easy part. I've been doing it my whole life. I wasn't really worried about the workout.

“I just wanted to get a chance to talk to Coach (Lakers coach Frank Vogel) and Rob (Pelinka). Rob (was) my agent for five years, so it's been good. Everything went well. It went smooth. So I'm here today and I'm happy, I'm excited. Just trying to get my feet wet, get back into rhythm and things like that and just figure out the plays and just get to know the guys.”

Waiters played in only three games for the Heat this season because of suspensions. He averaged 9.3 points, 3.7 rebounds and 1.0 assists while shooting 38.5 percent from the field and 47.1 percent from beyond the arc.

Waiters signed a minimum deal with the Lakers for the rest of the season, per Tania Ganguli of the Los Angeles TimesShams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium is reporting that the Lakers will waive Waiters the second he becomes a distraction off the court.
