Los Angeles Lakers center Dwight Howard broke the news of Kobe Bryant's tragic death to his teammates.

Lakers shooting guard Troy Daniels told Brandon “Scoop B” Robinson about how Howard delivered the devastating news while they were aboard the team plane.

“Regular trip. Chillin’. Literally everyone was asleep,” Daniels said. “All the shades were down, it was dark so everyone was asleep, and something just woke me up. Dwight says, ‘Hey y’all Kobe died.' And we’re looking like there’s no way and I’m like, ‘Shut up man, go back to sleep.'

“And he said it again and was like I’m serious bro. Right here it’s saying blah blah blah, and that’s when everybody woke up and [Lakers head coach Frank] Vogel was walking down the aisle and touched each one of our shoulders and that’s when everybody got on their phones because we have WiFi on the plane so we got on the phone and started checking and we couldn’t believe it until you see it on CNN and then [LeBron James] ‘Bron brought everybody in and we just prayed.

Daniels also revealed that the news did not sink it to the team immediately, perhaps holding out hope that the reports were not true. He added that they did not know Kobe's daughter, Gianna, was with him in the tragic accident.

The 28-year-old guard pointed out that when they landed, the day was foggy and they couldn't even see. However, it was at that moment — he said — that the news about Kobe's death “hit everybody.”

To recall, LeBron James was caught on camera being very emotional when he walked out of the Lakers' team plane in the wake of Kobe's death. It is also worth noting that Dwight Howard said Bryant was going to help him in the Slam Dunk Contest.

Bryant's passing is going to take a long time to get over, that's for sure.
