When the Los Angeles Lakers signed Dwight Howard in the offseason to replace DeMarcus Cousins, some fans didn't like the move. After all, Howard's first stint with the club was a disaster and the former Orlando Magic star had egos issues with the Houston Rockets, Atlanta Hawks and Charlotte Hornets.

However, Howard was able to rejuvenate his career in 2019-20 before games were suspended in March, in part because he accepted a bench role, threw his ego out the door and did everything Lakers head coach Frank Vogel asked of him.

During a conference call with Lakers reporters on Tuesday, small forward Kyle Kuzma praised Howard for being a great teammate, something fans didn't hear over the past couple of years.

After being a superstar with the Magic, Dwight Howard has seen his star status in the NBA dwindle. Maybe he had to sign a vet minimum contract to fully humble himself.

Before games were suspended, Howard was averaging 7.5 points, 7.4 rebounds and 1.2 blocks for the Lakers while shooting 73.2 percent from the field. The eight-time All-Star revealed on Monday he will join the team in Orlando for the “bubble” games, which start on July 30 at the Walt Disney Campus.

Prior to the start of the 2019-20 season, some NBA pundits thought Howard's NBA career was over. While no one is happy that Cousins tore his ACL, Boogie's injury did open up a spot for Howard on the Lakers and he ran with the opportunity.
