ESPN reporter Jackie MacMullan, who spends a lot of time around the Boston Celtics, feels “very strongly” that Kyrie Irving won't reunite with LeBron James on the Los Angeles Lakers this summer.

Irving becomes an unrestricted free agent this offseason once he declines his 2019-20 player option with the Celtics. LeBron and Irving were seen hanging out in Los Angeles last week, so rumors about them teaming up again on the Lakers have taken off.

“I did a little digging around and my feeling is very strongly that while LeBron and Kyrie have kissed and made up, that Kyrie is not going there,” MacMullan said, via the Union Leader. “He's just not. I just don't believe it. And I think people close to him just don't believe it either.”

Irving called James earlier this season to apologize for how he acted during their time together with the Cleveland Cavaliers. The Lakers have cap space to sign a max contract player this summer. James recently liked a photo on Instagram of Irving in a Lakers uniform.

Irving has been linked to the New York Knicks and Brooklyn Nets more than the Lakers. The All-Star guard grew up in New Jersey. Kyrie could also re-sign with the Celtics if Boston trades for New Orleans Pelicans star Anthony Davis.
