There's a wide spectrum of projections on just how the Los Angeles Lakers will perform next season. The trio of LeBron James, Russell Westbrook, and Anthony Davis have more than enough talent on paper, but their on-court fit has some questioning their status as title favorites.

Count former NBA champion John Salley as a believer of this Lakers team. In his latest interview on Vlad TV, not only does the former Detroit Pistons big man think they could win the title, Salley believes they could go down as the greatest ever.

“Their thing should be ‘hey fellas, we gotta win 74 games,” said Salley on the Lakers. “Then they go down in history. They're better than the Golden State Warriors, better than the Chicago Bulls 1996, greatest team ever.

The problem with the Warriors is they won 73 games but they lost in the Championship to LeBron. If these guys do the same thing, 73 wins, 74 wins, out of 82, and you win the Championship, it'd be the greatest team of All-Time.”

That's definitely a bold take. It's made even more intriguing by the fact that John Salley not only played against Michael Jordan as a member of the “Bad Boy” Pistons before MJ won his first title, but he was also a part of the very same 1995-96 Bulls team as well. He was a mid-season addition to the team, joining Dennis Rodman and James Edwards as MJ's former rivals turned allies.

Interestingly enough, Salley also spent one year with the Los Angeles Lakers. He came out of retirement in 1999 to join Shaquille O'Neal and Kobe Bryant in their first of three titles together. The man knows what a great team is supposed to look like.

The Lakers roster is stacked with former All-Stars and All-NBA talent. And while many of them are past their prime, the collective experience could very well propel the team to heights greater than what their current form projects to be.
