The NBA now lives in a reality where Kobe Bryant is without us. The Los Angeles Lakers legend is going to be badly missed by everyone in the league, and fans are starting a movement to immortalize his impact on the game of basketball by turning him into the NBA logo.

A Change.org petition started by one Nick M asks the NBA to turn the future Hall of Famer into the new NBA logo, replacing another Los Angeles legend in Jerry West. It was a move that would hopefully immortalize the 41-year-old shooting guard and father of four beautiful daughters.

“With the untimely and unexpected passing of Kobe Bryant please sign this petition in an attempt to make his memory last forever as the NBA Logo.,” Nick M. penned in his straightforward petition.

The petition got the attention of devastated basketball fans: there are already more than 76,000 signatures that show their agreement to the petition, and the numbers continue to rise by the minute. Fans all over social media are also clamoring for Bryant to become the logo.

West himself was devastated that the man he traded for the Lakers during the 1996 Draft was gone too soon with his daughter, Gianna.

Per Mirjam Swanson of The Orange County Register:

“The news we’ve all received today is the most devastating news that anyone can imagine,” Hall of Famer Jerry West said in a statement. “I am so saddened for Kobe’s parents, Vanessa, Natalia, Bianka, Capri, Kobe’s sisters and all of the NBA fans that hold Kobe in their hearts. This loss of Kobe, Gianna, and everyone on board, is beyond tragic and incomprehensible.”

Kobe Bryant was an 18-time All-Star, five-time NBA champion, and two-time Finals MVP. He's known for his scoring and tremendous passion for the game. The entire NBA family is grieving with the Bryants and all of the families affected by the terrible accident.
