The Los Angeles Lakers have given their fans a ton of reason to celebrate this past year. After winning the 2020 title inside the NBA bubble, the Purple and Gold franchise went on to snag a few more Ws this offseason when they grabbed a handful of new talents and secured superstar big man Anthony Davis to a five-year deal.

But as the saying goes, all good things come to an end.

In light of the huge news that the Lakers front office finally decided to extend Kyle Kuzma on a huge three-year deal worth $40 million, the Purple & Gold faithful wasn't having it. It was Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN who dropped the Woj bomb on Sunday, and LA fans immediately jumped on the thread. To say that these fans weren't pleased with Kuzma's new contract extension is quite the understatement.

What a way to rain on Kyle Kuzma's big contract day with the Lakers.

It has been a love-hate relationship for Kuzma and the fans so far in his three-year stint in Hollywood. The Michigan native had a promising rookie year with the Lakers and even ended the 2017-18 season as part of the All-Rookie First Team. He then took more strides and continued to become a key member of the LA roster in his second season and averaged 18.7 points and 5.5 rebounds in 68 starts. In  the 2019-20 season though, his production dropped severely by averaging career-low in points, rebounds, field goal percentage and even minutes.

Kuzma has been one of the most inconsistent young players in LA, so his sizeable contract extension has the City of Angels quite split. As much as some hardcore LA fans believe in Kuz and what he can bring to the table, some of them simply just wanted him out.

Will Kuz prove these haters wrong with a breakout year this season? The Lakers front office sure hopes so.
