Frank Vogel declines to go into detail on Lakers’ move to waive DeMarcus Cousins

Los Angeles Lakers head coach Frank Vogel had a weird response when a reporter asked him about the DeMarcus Cousins news.

The Lakers are reportedly waiving Cousins, just a few days after Vogel said the big man could play in the postseason:

Cousins tore his left ACL this past summer during a pickup game in Las Vegas.

Boogie signed a one-year deal with the Lakers this past offseason. He was projected to be the team’s backup center. Former superstar big man Dwight Howard is playing that role now and he’s done a solid job.

Cousins, who is a four-time All-Star, has career averages of 21.2 points, 10.9 rebounds and 3.2 assists with the Sacramento KingsNew Orleans Pelicans and Golden State Warriors. Boogie tore his left quad in the first round of the 2019 playoffs with the Warriors, but was able to play in the NBA Finals against the Toronto Raptors, where the Dubs lost in six games.

Cousins’ injury woes began in 2018, when he tore his left Achilles with the Pelicans. He was actually on track to sign a lucrative contract in the summer of 2018 before he tore his Achilles.

The Lakers are signing Markieff Morris. They had to waive DeMarcus Cousins to sign Morris.
