It does not come as a surprise that Los Angeles Lakers head coach Frank Vogel thinks LeBron James should be this year's MVP. This is exactly why it was quite awkward for Vogel to run into Milwaukee Bucks stud Giannis Antetokounmpo — the frontrunner for this year's MVP — shortly after Vogel publicly expressed his belief about James being the MVP.

Vogel shared how he handled his encounter with Antetokounmpo literally minutes after stating his claim for LeBron to the media:

“I didn’t talk to him. I just walked past him,” Vogel said, via Mark Media of USA TODAY Sports. “I had just told the world that Lebron is the MVP, so that was weird. The NBA can be awkward.”

It is not clear if Giannis heard what Vogel had to say right before their chance meeting, but that was not the first time Vogel had expressed why he believes LeBron deserves the award, so Antetokounmpo probably would have had an idea already. I guess it's a good thing that no words were exchanged, as that would have been a very awkward conversation, to say the least.

Then again, it isn't surprising for Vogel to take his own player as opposed to the reigning (and soon-to-be back-to-back) MVP. Surely it would have been an even more awkward daily encounter between Vogel and LeBron if the Lakers coach came out to say that Giannis was his MVP, right?
