Los Angeles Lakers head coach Frank Vogel believes that there might be bigger roles in store for back up guards Quinn Cook and Alex Caruso.

The consensus is that Rajon Rondo — who's entering his 14th year in the league — will be the Lakers' starting guard. But Vogel — who's entering his first season as the Purple and Gold's head coach — revealed that Caruso and Cook have performed up to par in workouts and practices. As such, he might field the two for bigger roles in the 2019-20 season.

“Our young guys – Caruso and Quinn Cook – have shown me a lot. I feel good about throwing those guys in at any point. They could be competing for some big roles for our team,” Vogel said per Kenneth Teape of Fansided.

It's widely known that the most successful LeBron James teams are filled with players that can shoot from downtown. The likes of JR Smith, Kyrie Irving, Chris Bosh, Kevin Love, Kyle Korver, just to name a few, are some of James' teammates which have helped him win.

Perhaps this is Caruso and Cook's advantage over Rondo. Caruso, on top of his experience playing alongside James, shoots at 39.8 percent from deep. Cook, meanwhile, is a 41.8 percent shooter from downtown. While Rondo's veteran savviness might be favored in more critical games, Vogel is still in a great position as he has two young and potent guards at his disposal.
