Los Angeles Lakers head coach Frank Vogel has revealed that he'll be utilizing a post-oriented offense led by Anthony Davis, DeMarcus Cousins and LeBron James.

Speaking with Chris Mannix of Sports Illustrated on The Crossover Podcast, Vogel detailed what would be his offensive approach in his first year as Lakers head coach. Just like his offensive scheme with the Indiana Pacers before, he intends to feed it into the post a bit more.

“It's different [from my offensive scheme with the Indiana Pacers]. That approach was to try to be a power-post offense and pound it inside, you know, slow down the game a little bit in the halfcourt and play through the post. We'll do that more here than I've done the last few years and more than the rest of the league does because of guys like DeMarcus, AD and LeBron. Those guys will get a lot of touches in there.”

Vogel added that there will be lots of movement and cuts — just like the offense employed by the Golden State Warriors. Everything will start from the post. From there, he'll try to generate a ‘model of movement' from his players.

“I love what Golden State has done. As much as everyone talks about their pace and their break and their three-point shooting, their cutting is what I think a lot of people would say was their best attribute. And a lot of that action happened when the ball was in the post.”

Only time will tell if this offensive scheme will work for the Purple and Gold. However, there's no doubt they have the talent and personnel to make it work.
