Los Angeles Lakers head coach Frank Vogel gave an update on Kyle Kuzma's status, noting that he's not closing the door on the swingman suiting up in their season opener.

Vogel and the Lakers are still monitoring Kuzma's injured foot. He's listed as “day-by-day.”

However, when asked if Kuzma will be available in opening night, Vogel didn't rule out the possibility and simply said “we'll see.”

Kuzma sustained the injury during his stint with Team USA this past summer. He was diagnosed with a stress reaction in his left foot, which would reportedly keep him out of action until at least mid-October. Fortunately, Kuz was recently cleared to participate in non-contact drills.

The Lakers' season opener is on Oct. 22 against the Los Angeles Clippers.

Kuzma is the only remaining member of the Lakers' young guns after the massive roster shakeup this offseason. Kuz saw his old pals Lonzo Ball, Brandon Ingram and Josh Hart sent to the New Orleans Pelicans in exchange for Anthony Davis.

Many have tagged Kuzma as the perfect complement to James' play style. He can shoot and drive to the hoop, and his defense is only going to get better as time goes on.

Vogel's update is definitely good news for Purple and Gold fans. Now, there's a good chance they'll see the new and improved Lakers roster in opening night with a healthy Kuzma.
