After a red hot start to the season, the Los Angeles Lakers have stumbled a bit before the New Year. They have lost four straight games — bowing down to the Indiana Pacers, Milwaukee Bucks, Denver Nuggets and the Los Angeles Clippers — and are now 24-7 on the season.

While the Lakers still stand as the top seed in the Western Conference, the team's recent play is obviously frustrating for everyone involved. In fact, according to head coach Frank Vogel, the players are “edgy.”

“I think they’re a little bit edgy,” Coach Frank Vogel said, per Mike Bresnahan of Spectrum SportsNet. “Appropriately edgy, I would say.”

Even more frustrating is the fact that the Purple and Gold have lost straight games at home, which included a 24-point beatdown from the Nuggets.

The four most recent teams on the Lakers' schedule have a combined record of 93-25, so it is not like the team has been losing to inferior teams. Still, with the talent on the roster, a four-game losing streak is both unexpected and disappointing.

Vogel has been excellent in his first year as LA head coach. The 46-year-old head coach signed a three-year deal with Los Angeles this offseason to become the team's next head coach. Vogel previously served as the head coach of the Orlando Magic from 2016 to 2018 before being fired.

The Lakers will now focus their attention to the 14-18 Portland Trail Blazers who have struggled this season after making the Western Conference Finals in the 2018-19 campaign.

LeBron James, Anthony Davis and Co. previously blow out the Blazers in their first meeting this season, with AD dropping 39 points, nine rebounds, two assists, two steals and three blocks en route to a 136-113 victory. LeBron, for his part, added 31 points, seven rebounds and eight assists during the game.
