New Los Angeles Lakers head coach Frank Vogel says he went through an extensive interview process with Jason Kidd, who will be Vogel's lead assistant coach.

Kidd and Vogel talked about Kidd's past domestic violence issues. Vogel believes Kidd has put that incident past him.

Kidd is one of the best point guards in NBA history. He was inducted into the NBA Hall of Fame in 2018. The Lakers are hoping Kidd can help Lonzo Ball become an All-Star point guard.

After Kidd's NBA career ended, he coached the Brooklyn Nets for one season and the Milwaukee Bucks for three and a half seasons. He went 44-38 with the Nets and 139-152 with the Bucks.

Kidd has a strong relationship with Lakers star small forward LeBron James. The two played together on Team USA back in the day. A lot of fans of the Lakers aren't happy Kidd is on the staff because of his past domestic violence issue. However, if Vogel, general manager Rob Pelinka and owner Jeanie Buss believe Kidd can help the Lakers and has shown remorse, the Hall of Famer deserves a second chance.

The Lakers haven't made the playoffs since 2013. James missed the postseason in 2018-19 for the first time since his second year in the NBA. Expectations for next season are going to be high for LA.
