New Los Angeles Lakers recruit Carmelo Anthony certainly has his fair share of naysayers. Sitting atop Melo's list of haters is none other than his former Denver Nuggets coach George Karl, who himself has recently been taking a few savage shots aimed at his former star player.

Karl has been getting more than he's bargained for on the mean streets of Twitter, with the former NBA coach now claiming that he has received several death threats over his Carmelo slander.

When probed about what prompted the violent reactions, Karl revealed that it was over his negative comments about Anthony:

For those that require context, this was Karl's unfiltered message for Carmelo Anthony when the latter began talking about chasing a championship now that he's with the Lakers:

That's pure savagery from George Karl, who himself is still clearly feeling salty about his time with Melo in Denver. Anthony refused to engage with his former coach, but the same cannot be said about a number of rabid Lakers fans. They came to the defense of their new signing, and for some, it went as far as issuing death threats to George Karl. Regardless of the situation, it's never okay to threaten a man's life or to wish him harm. This is simply unacceptable behavior.

For his part, it doesn't look like these developments are going to stop Karl from taking shots at Melo. All eyes will be on the 10-time All-Star in his first season with the Lakers, and you can be sure that George Karl will be one of his staunchest critics throughout this run.
