The GOAT conversation typically involves four names. Kobe Bryant, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Michael Jordan, and Los Angeles Lakers star, LeBron James. When it comes to The King's legacy, he's still looking to add more accolades before it's all said and done.

While many people have their own opinions on who is the greatest player ever, former Lakers big man Shaquille O'Neal is set on Abdul-Jabbar being the best of the best. But, he does believe LeBron can pass him if he completes one specific feat. Via Fadeaway World:

“I don’t like having this conversation because I actually know all these guys… I think this is LeBron’s plan, he wants to pass Kareem. Because if he passes Kareem in points, we all got to shut the hell up.”

Although James is focused on bringing another title back to LA after a productive summer from the Lakers front office, he's currently third on the all-time points list, trailing Kareem by around 3,000 points. Considering that he likely has a couple of years left in the tank at the very least, the feat of catching Abdul-Jabbar is definitely possible. LeBron will likely surpass Karl Malone next season, who is ahead of him by around 1,000 points.

Shaq also made it clear that if James also wins a fourth ring, the GOAT conversation will be put to bed.

“He’s gonna have four rings, you already pass up Kobe, you already passed up Mike, now you pass up Kareem. So if that doesn’t make him the greatest basketball player, I don’t know what we’re talking about. It’s always gonna be Mike, gonna be Kobe, and then probably LeBron.”

With Russell Westbrook now alongside him and Anthony Davis on the Lakers roster, it will be interesting to see if Bron can ultimately capture another title in 2022.
