The Los Angeles Lakers addition of two-time All-Star guard Isaiah Thomas was met with scrutiny by many. The Lakers are dealing with injuries and players in the health and safety protocols, part of the reason they used the NBA's hardship exemption to bring Thomas aboard. Los Angeles has continued to struggle since signing Thomas, prompting a graphic on social media, which tied the Lakers' struggles to the former Boston Celtics guard's arrival in Los Angeles. Thomas' former teammate Rudy Gay didn't take kindly to the graphic.

Utah Jazz forward Rudy Gay didn't hold back when it came to his former teammate Isaiah Thomas. Thomas and Gay played a half of a season together while the two were with the Sacramento Kings- and it appears that Thomas left quite the impression for his former teammate to come to his aid this way.

Sure, Thomas has had his share of struggles since arriving in Los Angeles, including a putrid, 1-for-11 shooting night, though the former Cleveland Cavs guard took it in stride.

Plus, the Lakers have had their fair share of struggles before Thomas arrived, so to act like he is suddenly the biggest issue with the team is more than a little ridiculous. Rudy Gay is right.

That said, it is fair to question why the Lakers opted to bring in an offensive-minded player like Thomas, who is a below-average defender, when their defense has been their biggest problem this season.
